Why SEO Matters?
SEO matters today because search engines matter a lot! This is the place where people go when they need answers or information or just to kill time. And because so many people use them, they are a huge source of traffic for most websites. Today, almost 60-65% of web traffic comes from search engines alone. And the higher the ranking, the more traffic you will receive. By the way, based on our research, this is what the click-through rate (CTR) looks like for positions in search results:
Position 1 — 20.5%
Position 2 — 13.32%
Position 3 — 13.14%
Position 4 — 8.98%
Position 5 — 9.21%
Position 6 — 6.73%
Position 7 — 7.61%
Position 8 — 6.32%
Position 9 — 5.83%
Position 10 — 5.51%
The top position receives about 20% of all traffic from search engines. Think about it: the higher rank you have, the higher your click-through rate (CTR). Usually, the screen progression is not what the users do look for in the search engine. To get the most relevant answer, they look for it at the top of the page. They, actually, do not proceed to the next webpages. Without it, your site will not get a strong flow of traffic; that is, it won’t get you close. If you make it to the first page by the search engine, you will also lose all the rest of the search traffic on other pages if it does not let you on the first one. Sounds harsh, we know. Remember that SEO is, in fact, a long-term exercise. Your site will be at a slightly lower position, but if you keep optimizing it, you will slowly move to the top.
